Route1 is a hyper-targeted jobs board.
Route1 is a tech start-up disrupting the legal recruitment industry. I joined as the first employee, and was a key contributor as the company grew to a valuation of £2m through 3 rounds of funding, 15 employees, and 9,000 active users. I was responsible for building the products (webtool + mobile app) and the brand from the ground up, managing the entire process from conception through to execution.
Our challenges
The legal recruitment industry is very dated, manual and unbalanced. Most of the big legal companies operate on network and trust, meaning that a majority of the contracts, jobs and money go to a small portion of the workforce. Route1's mission was to disrupt this, by creating a sophisticated algorithm that would act as a virtual recruiter to any lawyer downloading our app.
My contributions
As the first employee, I created the brand and designed our customer app and client web tool from the ground up. I focused on creating a product range that felt modern, transparent and supportive. I imagined features which allowed users from both side to always know the state of their job or application, which received an overwhelmingly positive response from our 10,000 user base.
