Huma is a remote patient monitor.

Huma is a global health tech company with a mission to help people with chronic, complex, and rare diseases to live longer, better lives. Since Huma acquired BioBeats, I integrated their design team as a Senior product designer. I have had the opportunity to work on several ambitious projects, notably a Covid-19 monitor for hospitals in London and Germany.

Our challenges

Huma's projects are three-fold: they must satisfy the client, the hospital staff using the platform, and the patients entering their data onto the app. For the hospital staff, it means navigating complex data dashboards with a number of fragile cases. For the patients, it means using a hi-tech product to connect with their medical devices and consistently entering data.

My contributions

My experience in BtoC companies taught me to radically focus on users, and work with as much empathy and understanding as possible. Along with Andrew Emerson, I focused on the chronic care part of the business, allowing us to take the patients app further. We introduced features who all helped bring patients' adherence to the app to 95%. I also re-imagined the hospital staff dashboard's structure, helping staff move patients across clinics.

Case study

I have written an in-depth case study of some of the work I was involved in during my time at Huma, in the Chronic Care department. This will give you an idea of how I like to work!

Covid-19 monitor

We were tasked with creating a Covid-19 monitor, whose goal was to help clinicians quickly react to a patient's worsening symptoms. By allowing the clinician to easily transfer a patient from Normal to Severe cases, we helped our partners save Covid-19 patients without a need for in-person appointments.
